Microsoft today announced a few updates for the upcoming Windows 8 (set for release on October 26th) on the official MSDN blog. Unlike the earlier Windows versions, where Microsoft issued updates straight to OEMs (Original Equipment Manufacturers) and you had to wait till they launched the service/update packs, now you can get these updates directly from Microsoft. No need to wait at all for the OEMs' services. As the blog states, "Windows 8 will be totally up to date for all customers starting at General Availability."

The new updates shall be delivering more power efficiency that extends battery life, improvements in the Windows 8 apps and the Start screen, better audio/video playback in various scenarios and an improved application and driver compatibility with Windows 8. The first set of upgrades are obtainable today as of now. More of it could be learnt here. Posted in: #Gadgets
