Microsoft Open Technologies Inc. To Deal With Open Source & Standards Communities

One name we don't hear a lot in the Open Source domain is Microsoft. The folks at Redmond didn't like open source much until now. But looks like Microsoft's changing the way the open source world looks at them. The company announced that they've launched a new subsidiary of Microsoft, called "Microsoft Open Technologies Inc." to deal with the open source technologies and standards communities. Microsoft's #-Link-Snipped-# that his team will be at the nucleus of the new company and has worked with several standards initiatives at Microsoft including W3C HTML 5, HTTP 2.0, DTMF and OASIS etc. The new company will continue to support open source foundations like Apache 2.0 and Outercurve Foundation.
