Microsoft Mobile Devices has announced two new budget devices, the Lumia 435 and Lumia 532. The Lumia 435 costs 69 Euros or 5040 Indian Rupees making it the cheapest Windows Phone device from Microsoft. The Lumia 532 is the successor of the Lumia 535 and it will retail for 79 Euros or 5770 Indian Rupees. Both of these smartphones come with the latest version of Windows Phone 8.1 operating system, the Lumia Denim Update and quintessential Microsoft apps like Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, Skype, HERE location services, 30 GB of lifetime OneDrive storage and Lumia Camera. The Lumia 435 and Lumia 532 will be rolling out for the public in select markets of Europe, Asia-Pacific, India, the Middle East and Africa. So before the phones arrive at a store near you we shall help you decide which one should you buy. Starting with, the Microsoft Lumia 435.

Microsoft Lumia 435

Lumia 435 1

Microsoft Lumia 435 is the first 400 series Windows Phone from the Redmond tech giant. To keep the price in check Microsoft has cut many corners starting with the display. The Lumia 435 sports a 4inch LCD Transmissive display with a WVGA (800 x 480) resolution and pixel density of 233ppi and no protective glass. Underneath the hood we find a 1.2GHz dual-core Snapdragon 200 processor and 1GB of RAM. The inclusion of 1GB of RAM in a low-end smartphone is quite significant. The Lumia 435 has an internal memory of 8GB and it allows you to expand that storage up to 128GB with the help of microSD cards. The Lumia 435 is equipped with an underwhelming 2.0MP fixed focus rear sensor with no flash and on the front you can find a VGA 0.3MP sensor. The phone can record videos up to WVGA (800 x 448) resolution. Connectivity options include micro-USB, Bluetooth 4.0 and Wi-Fi. The Lumia 435 utilises A-GPS, GLONASS, cellular and Wi-Fi network positioning. The phone will be sold in single and dual-SIM variants and will be powered by a user-replaceable 1560 mAh that is claimed to last for 21 days on standby and offer up to 20hours of talk time.

Microsoft Lumia 532

Lumia 532 1

As evident from the name the Lumia 532 is quite similar to the Lumia 535, the first phone with Microsoft branding instead of Nokia. Underneath the hood we find the same internals as the Lumia 535, 1.2GHz Snapdragon 200 quad-core processor and 1GB of RAM. Outside however there are some major changes. Instead of a 5inch screen, Microsoft sticks a 4inch WVGA (800 x 480) resolution display with 233 ppi and no protective aids. The Lumia 532 is equipped with an 8GB internal memory and you get the same 128GB expansion option with help of microSD cards. The Lumia 532 has a larger 5MP sensor on the rear and a VGA 0.3MP sensor on the front. The sensor and connectivity options remain the same as Lumia 435. The phone as expected will be available in single SIM and dual SIM variants and will be powered by a user-replaceable 1560mAh battery that is claimed to last for 22 hours on stand-by and offer 20 hours of talk time.

Lumia 532 2

Our verdict is that if you wish to buy one of these devices, opt for the Lumia 532. Although it is slightly expensive than the Lumia 435 it is worth the money. To assist your decision making process we have included a couple of useful links below.
