As Microsoft engineering team prepares to launch the next big version of Windows (10), the company's winking at Google. Microsoft's Gabe Aul has published a post on official Windows blog informing that the Build 10240 of Windows 10 packs Microsoft Edge browser with blazing fast speeds! Aul writes that the Edge team is continuously improving the performance of Edge browser and the latest version beats Chrome and Safari on their own JS benchmarks.

The blog post claims that on WebKit Sunspider, Edge is about 112% faster than Chrome. On Google Octane, it's about 11% faster and on Apple JetStream, 37% faster than Chrome. In the recent tests conducted by Benchmarking beta browsers: Chrome vs. Firefox vs. Edge | VentureBeat featuring an older version of Edge; the browser won the SunSpider test with a big margin. It however lost to Chrome in Octane, JetStream and other tests.

These numbers matter a lot to Microsoft as it hopes to gain the confidence of the pro / advanced users in their browser. Microsoft's disastrous IE6 and the subsequent versions had resulted into a steady decline of Microsoft in the browser market share. With the launch of Edge, Microsoft had to get things right - and the tests show that they did.

Microsoft Edge shows a great promise that the browser will work with the modern web and won't give users a reason to switch to Chrome or Firefox. In our wild dreams, we hope that Microsoft will release Edge for OSX and Linux flavors as well.

We'd like to ask our readers whether they'd prefer using Edge over Chrome and Firefox. Let us know in comments section, folks!

Just wondering if anyone's tested the new edge browser? How does it compare with Firefox and Chrome on Windows 10?
