Micromax’s Website Hacked: Ignored Bug Report To Blame
Micromax’s official website (www [dot] micromaxinfo [dot] com) has been hacked since last night. As of now no one has came forward to claim responsibility for the action. The hackers took over the website’s search engine optimisation data by replacing it with “HACKED!!! This is to inform bug in your website“.
When we moved to the website we found that they had even managed to mess with the Meta Tag Title of the SEO by changing it to “Sorry !!!! RepORTED bUG... check support[@]Micromax[dot]com | 6months old bug is not PaTchED YEt”. This statement clearly states that someone had reported the bug on the Micromax website six months prior to the attack but Micromax did not pay attention to it.
The good news here is that it appears that the hackers did not mess with the actual data on the website. Everything from product pages to other links work fine. This is not the first time a hacker has taken a drastic step to report a bug. In 2013 Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg found his privacy settings to be messed with by a Palestinian researcher whose claims had went unheard.
