  • Metis Learning Solutions has launched an Android tablet which has been exclusively made for children between the ages of two to ten years. The educational apps for the device have been carefully tested by a team of expert educators. The team went through over 50000 educational apps which are available on the Google Play store and handpicked the apps which were efficient and were part of a child’s curriculum. The apps were then categorised by subject and age. Apart from apps the tablet gives many parental controls. Children cannot access social media sites and download other apps without their parents’ permission. Parents can monitor the kid’s activity on the tablet by going through the daily detailed reports generated from apps and control the amount of time the kids spend with the Eddy tablet. Parents are also given the option to curate a child’s study plan by allowing or blocking specific apps. If you have more than one kid, it lets you configure profiles for every kid separately. Most kids have the habit of dropping things so to make sure that the tablet is safe from falls it is protected by a drop safe bumper.

The tablet has a 7-inch IPS panel display with a 1024 x 600 pixels resolution. The tablet runs Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean) with the help of a 1.6 GHz dual-core ARM Cortex A9 processor and 1GB of RAM. It has got an impressive 8GB of internal memory that can be expanded by using microSD cards of up to 32 GB. Since kids aren’t that interested in photography or taking ‘selfies’ Metis has remained modest on the cameras and given it a 2MP rear and a 0.3 MP front sensor. The tablet provides Wi-Fi and HDMI connectivity but misses out on Bluetooth. The tablet supports 3G connectivity with the help of external USB dongles. Eddy is powered by a 3200 mAh battery which seems quite good. The tablet is available in Playful Pink and Gorgeous Green variants for a price of Rs. 9,999. The tablet can be bought from the #-Link-Snipped-# website and #-Link-Snipped-#.
