Meizu M5 Note & Meizu Band Go Official In China

Meizu, an upcoming smartphone manufacturer from China has unveiled two new gadgets in its native market. The existence of the Meizu M5 Note was rumoured late last month. The Meizu Band came as a surprise to the fans of the smartphone brand. The specs of the Meizu M5 Note were more or less consistent with the leaks. The Meizu M5 Note sports a 5.5inch 2.5D curved glass display with full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) resolution. Since Meizu delivers cost-effective devices, the company has opted for the cheaper yet powerful MediaTek Helio P10 chipset with 1.8GHz octa-core processor with Mali T860 GPU and 3GB or 4GB of RAM. The Meizu M5 Note will be sold in 16GB, 32GB and 64GB of internal storage and you get 4GB RAM only on the 64GB model.

The Meizu M5 Note runs Android Marshmallow that is dubbed as Flyme OS 6.0 by the company with its own UI. Just like most upper mid-range smartphones the Meizu M5 Note comes with a fingerprint sensor. The Meizu M5 Note has been equipped with a 13MP rear camera with PDAF and dual-tone LED flash. The front camera has a resolution of 5MP. The Meizu M5 Note is powered by a 4000mAh battery. Connectivity options on the Meizu M5 Note include 4G VoLTE, dual-band WiFi, Bluetooth and microUSB. The smartphone will be available in Champagne, Gold, Silver, Blue and Grey colour variants. The prices of the Meizu M5 Note start at 899 Yuan and go up to 1499 Yuan.

Meizu Band

Meizu has taken a cue from it's much larger and successful counterpart Xiaomi and launched its first fitness tracker. The blandly titled Meizu Band shares a lot in common with the Mi Band 2. The Meizu Band has an OLED screen that displays the current time, steps, calories burnt and your current heart rate. The Meizu Band can be programmed to show notifications for incoming calls and messages. It can be used to locate your smartphone. As expected the Meizu Band is connected to your smartphone with Bluetooth. Taking inspiration from the rather expensive Fitbit Alta, the Meizu Band notifies you if you have been sedentary for a long period of time hinting you to take a short stroll. The Meizu Band is charged with a magnetic charger when it runs out of charge after a week of use. The Meizu Band is iP67 dust and water resistant which means you can use it in a light shower. The Meizu Band costs 229 Yuan or $33.
