The new #-Link-Snipped-# model will be powered by a 173 bhp diesel engine capable to produce a 310 lb-ft torque. The 2.2 liter turbocharged engine in CX5 boasts to be one of the green engines ever produced by Mazda with CO2 emissions less than 120 g/KM. The whole bunch of technologies combined in Sky Activ helps in maintaining a similar carbon footprint to that of Audi Q5. The latest incorporation of Sky Aktiv also ensures a lighter body there by promoting less fuel consumption. The car  body is made up of high tensile steel. An important feature as seen in Mazda CX5 is its turbodiesel engine which is touted to be 20 percent more efficient than earlier 2.2 liter diesel engine. The diesel engine is tuned at a compression ratio of 14:1 and a specially designed engine start stop system.

The car will serve as a replacement for its present Mazda tribute model and looking at its technical advantages, will be most fuel efficient model in its class. Mazda has still not revealed many of the details of CX5 however according to Mazda, a diesel and a gasoline type of it will be made available in two different versions i.e.; a standard version and a high-power version. The car is expected to be one of the top selling models like #-Link-Snipped-# which Mazda has to offer.
