Maruti Suzuki Swift DZire Facelift Claimed To Be The Most Fuel Efficient Car In India

Automobile manufacturer, Maruti Suzuki has launched the refreshed edition of its bestseller sedan, Swift DZire with several comfort and convenience features in India. The 2015 Swift Dzire is priced between Rs. 5.07 lakh to Rs. 6.80 lakh for four petrol variants and from Rs. 5.99 lakh to Rs. 7.81 lakh for three diesel variants (ex-showroom Delhi). Maruti Suzuki has also claimed that the facelifted version is the most fuel efficient sedan in India as the company has improved the fuel efficiency by more than 13 per cent of diesel variants and 9 per cent of petrol variants over the previous models. The mileage of 2015 Dzire running on diesel is 26.59 kmpl and on the other hand the petrol variant offers mileage of 20.85 kmpl.

On the exterior, the sub-4 meter sedan sports new stylish bumper, headlamps with black tint finish, chrome front grille, chrome lined fog lamp housing, new motion alloy wheels, and electrically retractable ORVMs with turn indicators. Maruti Suzuki has also improved the interior by introducing upholstery socket, front and rear accessory socket and engine push start / stop button. The convenience features includes mike integrated map lamp, multi-function steering wheel with audio and Bluetooth controls on it, and reverse parking sensors.

Coming to the engine, Swift DZire powered by 1.3-litre 1248 cc DDiS diesel engine delivers torque of 190 Nm @ 2000 rpm and power of 75 ps @ 4000 rpm. While, the petrol variant runs on 1.2-litre 1197 cc K series VVT engine that provides a torque of 115 Nm @ 4000 rpm and a power of 84.3 ps @ 6000 rpm. In order to enhance the fuel efficiency, Maruti Suzuki engineers have made changes in the engine hardware that improves its thermal efficiency. They have reduced frictional losses and also brought changes in the calibration of the engine.

The refreshed DZire is also being introduced in four new premium body colours namely Cave black, Alp Blue, Magma Grey, Sangria Red to the previous colour options such as Pearl Arctic White, Silky Silver, and Prime Pacific Blue.

    Maruti has done a good job in modifying design (face lifting) to increase the fuel efficiency. I wish they could do something to brought down the price for Airbags and could make it a mandate for all Maruti cars... a step towards road safety !!
