Map My India S650 Hardware Overview


S650 boasts 5” Color transmissive LCD with touch panel. All the functions & features you need to access are available right on the screen. The information is displayed in landscape mode in 480x272 resolution. The navigator uses 720 mAh rechargeable li-ion battery and features mini-USB connector. There is a provision of microSD card in addition to 2 GB internal memory, which supports up to 8GB of external storage, enough to host your favorite music tracks and video files. The inbuilt GPS module (SiRF Star III with InstantFixII, Embedded 12x12x4 patch antenna) operates at 1575.42 MHz frequency on COM2 port.The device measures 142 x 88 x 17 mm and weighs about 185gram. S650 uses Windows CE 6.0 operating system and runs on Samsung 6443 ARM 11, 400 MHz processor.

S650 Features


The navigator offers one of the best coverages of Indian city maps. The company claims that S650 can give turn by turn navigation in over 1027 cities across India and features 3.95 unique destinations. Users can search for destinations from over 52 categories.

The SiRF InstantFix technology offers 5x rapid fixing of GPS signals and even in places where the GPS signals usually gets blocked, like amidst the tall buildings. In simpler words, it simply means that the G650 navigator can quickly locate GPS satellites and identify its own location in just few seconds.

You can connect your DVD player to the navigator and use it as your entertainment device. It supports all popular video formats (mp4, wmv & avi) and audio formats (mp3, wma, .wav & .aac). In addition, if you wish, you can plug in your microSD card and make this navigator act as a digital picture frame. It supports popular image file formats like .jpg, .bmp, .png & .gif.

There are language packs available for download so that you can get instructions in your own language. You can search for your destinations and the navigator will show you the shortest possible path to your destination from your current location. It also features 'Giopix' which is a novel way of watching the photographs of places you're crossing. The S650 navigator imports the geo-tagged photographs and shows them while you're crossing the location.

In addition, you can personalize the navigator by saving your favorite destinations and routes along with GPS logs. This feature saves lot of time otherwise spent in entering the same information again.
