Made In India Jaguar XF launched, starting at Rs 47.5 lacs

Tata Motors-owned British Jaguar Land Rover India has announced the locally manufactured Jaguar XF Second-generation, in the country starting at Rs 47.50 lacs (ex-showroom, New Delhi). Local manufacturing at the company's plant in Pune has helped it slash the prices by as much as Rs 2 lacs as compared to the XF model launched last September.

The new Jaguar XF will be available in three variants namely Pure, Prestige and Portfolio with a choice of both petrol and diesel guises. The petrol version is powered by the same 2.0-litre 4-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine that churns out 240PS of power and develops a peak torque of 340Nm. On the other hand, the new 2.0-litre all-aluminium diesel engine, from the Ingenium series of Jaguar, produces 180PS of power and generates 430Nm of torque. Both the engine variants come mated to a standard 8-speed automatic gearbox.

When compared to the XF model launched last September, the new XF features a lightweight aluminum architecture contributing towards a weight saving of around 190 kg. It is also 3mm lower and 7mm shorter than its predecessor but with an increased wheelbase of 51mm, thanks to the new platform. The legroom and the knee room is also increased by 15mm and 24mm respectively. The headroom too is up by 27mm at the rear. The redesign has resulted in a drop in the drag coefficient from 0.29 to 0.26 due to the decreased height of the car. A weight distribution of 50:50 is also achieved which Jaguar says, results in an ideal balance between riding and handling.

It is also equipped with a host of connectivity options including a smartphone app which can be setup and used to start the engine, switch on the AC and much more.
