machine vision image processing

hey guys stalin here....
i am doing ma final yr project in machine vision systems..
and now need matlab 6.5 for ma image processing..
as am a severe novice in the programming dept😕..ned help tips and pointers for dimensioning a rectangle/any 2-d object..
i can use all the help i can get
