Where I work, companywide we use a free software 'edrawings' from Dassault systems to view compatible drawings from any source.
Dassault systems is now offering a $2 app that runs on Apple tablets.

A $9.99 pro version is now available for more advanced work.

It's indeed interesting. I see a greater number of 3D modelling software making it as apps on mobile devices. My question is, does the 'touchscreen' make the designing easier or it's only used for viewing?

It must be for viewing and editorial corrections only. The full software is too large to go on a tablet. Though, that issue will be overcome sooner than later. We saw a demo where a design was sent by email and using this app it was projected on the screen for us to see.
