The University of Sheffield is the first in the UK to set up an engineering leadership academy.
One of its students said that being part of SELA (Sheffield Engineering Leadership Academy)would get him on the motorway to a leadership role; without it, he’d have to get there on the A-roads.
Is there a case for a wider implementation of this kind of academy in other engineering institutions in the rest of the world?

I think these kind of initiatives have already existed in the US. Its more of an accelerated way for technical/research intensive people to take a leadership role in understanding and addressing problems, and delivering products.
