Marking an end of all speculations, Lexus finally unveiled its much awaited concept vehicle. #-Link-Snipped-# was showcased at #-Link-Snipped-#. The details about the latest car which were until now kept secret by the company point towards the innovative design of the concept.
#-Link-Snipped-#
Engineers at Toyota's Calty design studio have made a car which banks heavily on the sleek feature that #-Link-Snipped-# sports. One of the car's main visual aspects is its glass roof. This light weight roof is a cantilever pillared Glass-to Glass bond. The roof is fitted in close coordination between its other design features. From the smoothness associated with the glass and body combination, it appears as though there is no separation between the two.
Apart from external looks, the real driving experience is provided by the roomy driver cabin. The interior features smooth and organic geometry producing a sense of luxury. The cabin is covered throughout with rich leather and suede. As most of the car makers are going for advanced technologies for car, Lexus is also serious about the aspect. The concept coupe has a remote touch screen device to operate controls without having to stray away from line of sight while driving. A set of 12.3 inch LCD display provides information about navigation and other driving conditions.
The system also enables some complex operations like audio settings, seat arrangements and other personal entertainment settings via touch screen. While expressing his excitement about the new showcase, Mark Templin, Lexus group Vice President and General Manager said, "<em>This thought-provoking design exercise is a stunning expression of creativity. Combined with a next-generation hybrid powertrain, this concept promises a rewarding driving experience that is also kinder to the environment.</em>"
It appears that the 2+2 concept is a continuation of designing excellence started by Lexus's GT and CS. The front engine Hybrid sports concept car features a rear wheel drive. Speaking technically, it has a bright way to go.
