Lenovo Brings AMD's 7-series GPU To IdeaPad Y470p For $799

With some added graphics power packed into the IdeaPad Y470, Lenovo has brought its successor, the IdeaPad Y470p, to the market for just $799. The IdeaPad Y470 had a NVIDIA GeForce GT 550M graphics card of 1GB memory but the new Y470p packs in AMD Radeon HD 7690M GPU of one gigabyte memory. This gives a great amount of firepower to the notebook to be considered as a high end gaming laptop below $1000.

Most of the other specifications have remained the same, like the Intel's second generation Core i7-2670M (2.2GHz), 8GB DDR3 1333MHz memory, 14-inch HD Glare screen with a display resolution of 1366 x 768. The notebook comes with a 750GB of internal storage at 5400RPM. At this price at least a 7200RPM internal hard disk or an SSD could have been an icing on the already creamy soft cake (the IdeaPad Y470).

Some other specifications include a single USB 2.0 port with a couple of USB 3.0 and a USB eSATA Combo port. The Y470p also comes with regular HDMI, audio and Ethernet ports and the complete device is backed by a one year warranty.

No doubt that at this price point Lenovo is offering one of the best deals available in the segment but if you are waiting for Intel's Ivy Bridge processor, you can wait till around May or June when Lenovo launches their Y480 model but there has been no word on which GPU it will be featuring.
