All the things that one would expect from a smartphone priced below Rs. 5000 are available on the new Lava phone called 'Lava Iris X1 Atom'. Running on the Android KitKat 4.4 OS (upgradable to Lollipop), the new Lava Iris series phone does not try to offer pathbreaking specifications or such. Having a 1.2GHz quad-core processor as its engine and 512MB RAM + 4GB ROM (microSD 32GB support) as its companions, the X1 Atom is slated to go on sale next week at a price of Rs. 4,444. Lava Iris X1 Atom brings a VGA front camera and a 5 MP rear camera (with LED flash) to the table. User's connectivity needs are well taken care of with 3G support and Dual SIMs. Transferring files and pairing is possible with Bluetooth 2.1, Wi-Fi and micro-USB. We took a look at the phone's specs list to find a 1750 mAh battery and the 4-inch touchscreen sporting a WVGA resolution display.

At its price the phone has many tough competitors in India. Homegrown brands like Karbonn, Micromax & Spice have a fleet of Android phones with similar specs. Moreover, the bigger opponents such as Moto E and Samsung Galaxy Star Advance are present to give the Lava Iris phone a tough fight. Available in three colour options - White-Silver (as seen in picture above), Black-Gold and Black-Silver, the phone will be available - both online and brick-&-mortar stores starting next week.

Let us know your thoughts about the low-budget Android phones in India and if Lava Iris X1 Atom can make it mark.
