KU:RIN: Fastest 'Compressed Air Car' Breaks Records @ 129 Km/H
Compressed Air can act as a fuel for cars and it just helped KU:RIN to achieve a record breaking speed of 129 kmph at Japan Automobile Research Institute (JARI). The bad news is that compressed air cars are still far from being mass produced and remove our dependency on oil and lithium. Yet, KU:RIN has managed to impressed all of us. KU:RIN, a pencil shaped rocket that measures only 0.8 meter in width and ~3.5 meters in length achieved 129 kmph speed.

KU:RIN: Manufactured By Toyota
The car has been designed by a team of 40 engineers and researchers working on 'Dream Car Workshop' at Toyota Industries Corporation - a group company of Toyota. The team has been working on designing the car since 2006. Toyota is an expert in manufacturing of compressors for car air conditioners and know a lot about air compressors. For the KU:RIN, the engineers reversed an air conditioning compressor to generate mechanical energy from compressed air. By the way, in case you're enthusiastic about the mileage, the car only does 3.2 km with about three cylinders of compressed air.
