Koobface Exposed, There Ain't No Perfect Cyber Crime!
Facebook has #-Link-Snipped-# that they are going to release information about koobface virus and the people behind it. Koobface (anagram of facebook) is one of the biggest worms to hit facebook and several other sites back in 2008.

Koobface, the virus who attacked facebook and other social networking sites in 2008, has reportedly made $2 million since its first attack. They used to post fake links on userâs facebook wall as to update the flash player by their friendâs names. When a user clicks on the link, he is redirected to group of infected PCs named âkoobface botnetâ. The botnet has created millions of dollars for koobface, as it links the user to malicious software download links. The group made a lot of money by selling malicious softwares including fake antiviruses. According to Kaspersky, koobface has affected between 400,000 and 800,000 PCs in 2010.
Online security researchers Jan Dromer and Dirk Kollberg did an extensive <a href="https://nakedsecurity.sophos.com/koobface/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">The Koobface malware gang – exposed! – Naked Security</a> and revealed the names behind the virus. There are supposed to be five men in the group which also goes by the name âAli Baba and 4â. The name of these men along with their internet nickname are: Anton Korotchenko (KrotReal), Stanislav Avdeyko (leDed), Svyatoslav E. Polichuck (PcViat and PsychoMan), Roman P. Koturbach (PoMuc), Alexander Koltysehv (Floppy). These people are reportedly living in St. Petersburg, Russia. Â Facebook said that they have been able to take down a control and command server, which was the main working arena for the group, and since then there has been no sign of any harmful activities. They have been virus free since 9 months. As the need for online security in increasing day by day, this is a really good news for internet users across the globe.
