Project Abstract / Summary : Abstract
The rapidly increasing power of personal mobile devices(smart phones ,tablets,etc) is providing much richer contents and social interactions to users. In that approach of achieving social concerns we thought of developing an android application which mainly aims at addressing the social problem of animal welfare. The scenario proposed in this work is mainly dependent on the hardware of your smart phone (camera) and email support. Once this application is installed on the phone, open the application and take a picture with your phone/ write a report when you come across an animal in pain. The picture taken from the phone with the report will reach the nearest animal welfare or veterinary hospital and the concerned authorities are notified. Although there are a number of organizations like the animal welfare NGOs established across a region,an individual who wants to contribute to such services, must do extra work to gain details about the organization, before contacting them. This will be an extra obligation. Through this application the enviable advantage is that the social concern is achieved in a simpler way.
Why did you choose to work on this project topic : This app focuses on the subject which is very much present in our society. Although many animal welfare NGOs and veterinary clinics are set up, the plight of many of these animals goes unattended; also these animal welfare units do not work in unison, which could have otherwise reached out to many more animals.Also the fast moving city lives makes it challenging for people who are willing to help these animals.
