The Indian arm of the Japanese Kawasaki Motors has introduced the enthralling supersport motorcycle, The Ninja ZX-10RR in the country with a price tag of Rs 21.9 lacs (ex-showroom, New Delhi). The motorcycle was first presented at the Intermot show in October 2016 and now it comes with a limited edition tag, the production being globally capped to only 500 units.

The new Ninja ZX-10RR is based on the standard Ninja ZX-10R and is over Rs 2 lacs costlier than the latter. According to the company, the RR is built upon its worldsbk championship experience and has received race-derived upgrades. Designed to win races, any equipment that doesn’t quicken lap times is eliminated. It is powered by a liter class 998cc 4 cylinder liquid-cooled engine with DOHC, which pumps out 197 bhp of power at 13,000 rpm and an impressive peak torque of 113.5 Nm is available at 11,500 rpm. Power is transmitted to the rear wheels via a 6-speed return shift transmission. The engine also features race-ready upgrades which include extra space to support race camshafts, increased engine case strength, reinforced crankcases and Diamond Like Carbon (DLC) coated valve tappets to minimize friction and mechanical power loss. There is the updated Kawasaki Quick Shifter (KQS) system allowing clutchless gearshifts eliminating the need to match RPM with engine speed, resulting in reduced lap times.

The motorcycle sits on 7-spoke multi-directional forged light weight aluminum Marchesini wheels, wrapped in Pirelli Diablo Supercorsa SP tyres, aiding better acceleration and superior braking characteristics. Suspension duties are taken care of by the 43mm inverted balance free fork with adjustable step less rebound and compression damping for the front suspension, while the rear suspension gets the horizontal back-link with balance free gas-charged shock with step less, dual-range compression damping. For braking, there is KIBS (Kawasaki Intelligent anti-lock Brake System) controlled Brembo semi-floating dual discs measuring 330mm with dual radial mounted monobloc four-piston calipers at the front and 220mm single disc with aluminum single-piston caliper at the rear.

The motorcycle is only available in matte flat Ebony color with a graphic scheme as used by the KRT (Kawasaki Racing Team). The Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10RR will be on a limited global production of only 500 units, with no information regarding the number of units been allotted for India. It means only a few lucky Indians will now be able to get their hands on this super sports motorcycle.
