ISRO GSAT-8 Launch Delayed By One Day. Requires More Inspection By ARIANESPACE

Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) informs that the launch of GSAT-8 satellite has been delayed by one day. The satellite was scheduled to launch in the early hours of May 20, 2011. The GSAT-8 will now launch on  May 21, 2011 from Kourou, French Guyana, onboard ARIANE-V (VA 202 flight). The delay is because of additional inspection taken up by the agency responsible for the launch - ARIANESPACE. As of now, the exact schedule of launch is still to be confirmed.

After the failure of #-Link-Snipped-#, ISRO is making sure that everything is perfect. The GSAT-8 weighs about 3.1 tonnes and carries 24 Ku-band transponders for communication and broadcasting services. The satellite, after just 30 minutes of its launch will deploy itself in elliptical geo-synchronous transfer orbit. The satellite will cover 36,000 km geosynchronous orbit over the next three days. The satellite will be made available for DTH services from June, 2011.
