Is Microsoft building a smartphone? Foxconn is reported to have orders already!

Chinese Foxconn is the manufacturing hub for most of the electronic gadgets that we all use. According to Taiwanese tech website DigiTimes, Foxconn International Holding has already landed smartphone manufacturing orders from Microsoft. If the reports are to be believed, Microsoft will launch their own branded smartphone sometime in the Q2 of 2013. Foxconn has denied commenting on the rumor.

Those who don't know Foxconn - it's the big Chinese company that manufactures products for Apple including the ever popular iPhone. You don't have to be extra intelligent to figure out that Microsoft's own smartphone will feature their Windows 8 operating system. But the latest development suggest that the smartphone may just ship with #-Link-Snipped-# - the operating system Microsoft's engineers are believed to be building.

It's also being reported that FIH has received orders from Amazon as well. The rumor about #-Link-Snipped-# has been around for quite some time now. If what we're hearing is true, next year is going to be quite interesting for the smartphone markets.
