With greater adoption of IT in India, I believe Cyber Law specialists will be in demand in future. However, I'd recommend entering this field only after reviewing and understanding the career it offers. Go for it 'only if' you like it and find it exciting.

Most of the jobs would be in the 'consultant' category and it could mean you can work with IT companies, Law Firms, Startup companies developing new prototypes and so on. The salaries aren't 'very' lucrative in the beginning, but if you could prove yourself in the field; there's no limit to how much you can earn.

PG Diploma in Cyber Laws are getting quite popular these days. And rightfully so, owing to the drastic increase in the number of cyber-crimes committed in the country over the recent times. Once a friend has asked if one has to have a degree in law to do specialization in cyber law. I have no answer to that question. Anyone?

Cyber law is good and going to be better in the future. You are asking about it's scope, Okay. What kind of job do you want? Actually one has to do LLB to do practice as an Advocate. So doing diploma in Cyber Law won't allow you to practice as an advocate in the courts. Now the other options available are cyber law consultants, traffic annalists Intelligence officers etc. You can see the Cyber law scope more in government than in private. Because most of the departments IB, NIA, CBI, NIC are looking for cyber law candidates for scientific officers, Intelligence officers, technical officers, Assistant Central Intelligence officers etc etc.
Cyber law is Okay but Only Cyber law is not Okay. If you have LLB it would be a great fetch to you that is for sure. Private companies mostly won't consider those diplomas. Because even I thought of doing diploma in Cyber law few months back, but without knowing Cr.P.C, I.P.C it would be that much fetch I thought. And also compared to western countries, cyber crimes are bit less in India, so as the jobs and so as the scope 😀 But yes, B.Tech(CS) with Cyber law has few offers from Government. You can try them.

Anyway, If you really interested in cyber law and government jobs, you can go ahead with it and if possible you can try LLB also.
But think about it before you act. 👍

#-Link-Snipped-# - As far as I know LLB/ BL has a long list of specializations. They have Internet law as a specialization. But I think Cyber law is not available. Not sure though.

So can't computer science or IT engineers opt for a post graduation course in Cyber Law?

LL.B/BL is a undergraduate degree and LL.M/ML is a post graduate degree. So we B.Tech people have to do LLB and then LLM to get post graduate degree.
Specialization is nothing but selecting from the elective subjects that too in the final year only. Elective subjects are available like Patent law, Labor law, Intellectual property law, Succession, Taxation law, Family law, Patent & copyright law and many more. I don't think that Cyber law is an option available in the electives. But I've seen Internet law there. Cyber law is also a part of Internet law. I think Cyber laws are available as only P.G diploma courses. Not sure though.

Every time I talk about Cyber law, I feel I want to make it up. Sure I will one day.

It is very beneficial for those with technical background as they can understand the issue in a better way.
