iPhone SE Price In India Is Rs. 39000; Launch Scheduled In April
Newly announced Apple iPhone SE will be made available in India in April, with a price tag of only Rs. 39000 for the 16GB (base) model. Now, if you're an absolute iPhone lover; but without the bank balance to backup your wants; Apple's made it easier for you to afford the latest gadget in town. The iPhone SE packs most of the top features from iPhone 6S in a smaller shell and the form factor that resembles the iPhone 5S.
The tiny iPhone features Apple's latest A9 chip and M9 co-processor to drive the hardware and software. What comes as a surprise is the presence of the 12" rear shooter which captures images that are just as good as the ones from the latest 6S Plus. Now, since the processor has far lesser amount of pixels to light up (1136x640 pix resolution); expect SE to perform just as smooth as the S6 or S6 Plus.
The phone will ship with Apple's iOS 9.3, which is being rolled out to all the existing iDevices today. It features the new 'Night Shift' feature that reduces the overall 'blue light' emitted by the device. It's the same blue light that keeps you from sleeping if you continue to check your phone in bed. How? Well, the blue light from our gadgets keeps telling our eyes that it's still the daylight around; and hence disturbs the circadian rhythm.
The lower price point however does come with a few compromises. While the most important features such as camera and the processing power are borrowed from the 6S; the 3D touch and battery had to be left off. Apple confirms that the SE will last longer than your old 5S; but didn't disclose the official backup time. We'd guess the SE should sail through a full day on moderate use.
The first generation Touch ID fingerprint sensor in the home button isn't as fast as in the 6S - but we believe these are the trade-offs most of the iPhone lovers can keep up with; given the price point.
The new iPhone SE launches in India next month and a price, still higher than most of its direct competition. But that should not deter Apple fanboys and fangirls from making their next purchase.
Note: We do not know the pricing of 64 GB model yet. Please keep an eye on the comments below for updates.
