Robin Wauters at Source: The iPhone 5 Will Indeed Be A Dual-Mode CDMA / GSM 'World Phone' • TechCrunch broke out the news that he was approached by an iOS developer with solid proof that iPhone 5 will support both GSM and CDMA networks. The App usage logs shared by the developer who requested to be anonymous, clearly show that the new iphone used by a selected number of people is dual-mode phone - supporting both CDMA and GSM networks. The logs show that the device used by these select few people is iPhone 5, running iOS 5 and supports two distinct sets of mobile network codes (MNC) / mobile country codes (MCC).

iPhone 5 To Support GSM & CDMA Networks!

Steve Jobs clearly knows that a "Global Phone" would be the future of the smartphones. Apple works with both CDMA and GSM network providers in USA and making the iPhone 5 compatible with both networks makes it easier for the business users to have a single device that works in any country they visit. However, this might be a a disappointing news for the LTE fans. The evidences so far show that iPhone 5 won't have LTE support.

We believe the Dual Mode iPhone 5 would be great from the consumer perspective. The phone is expected to be released sometime in the next 2-3 months, along with the release of iOS 5 - which offers tons of great new features and improvements over the earlier version of iOS. We look forward to hearing your opinion on dual mode iPhone 5. Superlike?
