Crittercism, a company that analyses and reports various app crashes, recently reported about various iOS and Android app crashes. According to the report, iOS apps tend to crash more as compared to that of Android. Undoubtedly one can think basing upon what criteria an app is analyzed. Are crash reports generated in context to app launches or the users’ activity?

The company was able to analyze more than 214 million of various app launches between November and December 2011 to know the fact behind crashes. At the end, the company concluded that about 162 million iOS apps crashed as compared to 52 million in Android platform.

It was surmised that most of the iOS apps crashed due to the upgradation of Apple’s operating system iOS 5.0 to the new version 5.0.1 which could have made problems with compatibility of applications. On the other hand, Andrew Levy, CEO Crittercism said: he expects the same situation to occur with Android, upgrading its OS from the earlier version (Android 3.0) to Ice Cream Sandwich (Android 4.0).

Crittercism even addressed that it analyzes apps under three broad categories. Under the first category, as the company calls ‘first quartile of apps’, Android users experienced 0.15 percent of app crashes as compared to Apple’s 0.51. Under the ‘second quartile of apps’ analysis, Android crashes heightened to 0.73 percent as compared to Apple’s 1.47 percent. Under the ‘third quartile of apps’, Android app crashes extended to 2.97 percent where as Apple saw 3.66 percent.

But I guess, these giants of mobile computing would never spoil your experience and soon work out the problems.
