Intel's Leaked Roadmap; 22 nm Valley View Chip To Be Launched By 2013
If the leaked future plan is to be believed, then by the end of 2013 you will be using new Intel Valley View Chip with Ivy Bridge Graphics core. This new chip can enhance the Gfx performance up to 4 times. Valley View will not be confined to just desktops and laptops, itâs going to be used in future notebooks too.

The slides depicting the future plan of Intel up to 2013 are leaked out of kit maker company Advantech. Balboa Pier is supposed to be the chipset which will succeed Cedar Trail which arrived in end of last year. The new chip will provide better support of HD videos and 3D graphics along with better performance for Linux based systems. Reportedly new chip can provide up to 40 percent of performance boost as compared to currently available Sandy Bridge core i3, core i5 and core i7 processors. Jesse Barnes, supposedly an Intel employee, told some open source GUI developers that Valley View is Cedar View like chip with an Ivy Bridge Graphics Core. According to the roadmap the chip is supposed to launch in the first quarter of 2013.

According to another slide Valley view could be a fanless systems with up to 4 cores, 4 times increased Gfx performance, 8 GB of DDR3 RAM and USB 3.0. Notebooks are not much popular now a day, obviously because of their limited functionality. A chip with new graphics core can help in increasing the performance and might be able to boost up the market. 2013 is quite far right now, hopefully the new chips will be proved worth waiting.
