The processors for graphics such as Intel HD Graphics 5500, HD Graphics 6000 and Intel Iris Graphics 6100 are also included in the family and they will provide up to 24 percent better graphics performance in addition to about 50 percent faster video conversion process. Additional features such as new codec decode support for VP8, VP9, HEVC along with OpenCL 2.0 and OpenGL 4.3 are also provided. Due to advanced architecture, the new processors will perform up to 2.5 times faster in terms of performance and will have battery life that will be 2 times longer.

The company has started shipping the next generation Intel Atom processor processor for tablets to the device manufactures. This new system on a chip (SoC) processor is codenamed as “Cherry Trail”. The 64 bit SoC has Intel Generation 8-LP graphics and also offers modem capabilities with LTE-Advanced on Intel XMM 726x platform that will provide better performance as it supports Cat-6 speeds and carrier aggregation. Intel expects that its customers will develop devices by using this platform in the first half of this year.

The 5th Generation Intel Core processor family also has better capabilities and security features for powering the growing Internet of Things (IoT).
