Intel, the American tech-giant that makes industry-leading processors, had unveiled its first Computer Stick, also popularly known with the name #-Link-Snipped-#, at the CES event this year. In 2014, HDMI-streaming sticks Google Chromecast Comes To India With Price Tag Of Rs. 2999/- and Roku's Roku's Streaming Stick To Take On Google's Chromecast rose to fame, thanks to their compact form factor and dirt cheap prices. And since then, the hullabaloo surrounding these computing sticks has only been a part of tech talks all over the world. Pre-installed with Windows 8.1 or Linux, this mini PC resides in a four inches long body and brings WiFi as well as Bluetooth connectivity, a 64-bit Quad-Core Intel Atom processor, 2 GB memory, a 32 GB onboard hard drive, one HDMI port and a USB 2.0 port. As for the pricing, it is as promised - the Windows 8.1 model costs $149 and the Linux version costs $89.

The small compute stick packs the power of streaming media, browsing web, accessing social networking sites, playing games all in a device featuring plug-and-play simplicity with Windows Remote Desktop access. Among all these features, Intel highlights that the Compute Stick is a low-power solution for developers and feature no-effort installation.

The company has launched the Compute Stick via Amazon.com and #-Link-Snipped-# e-commerce platforms. While Amazon shows the product to be currently unavailable, NewsEgg has started accepting pre-orders for the mini PC stick. That said, there's a lot of discussion going on about who will win the war among Google Chromebit, Roku's Streaming Stick, Amazon's Fire Stick and the new player on the block - Intel Compute Stick.
