News arrives from Mountain View, California that #-Link-Snipped-# and Google have struck up a partnership to invent chipsets for the Android platform. The Android market which is ruled by ARM-based processors will now be facing competition from Intel and Google’s technology.

The aim of the partnership is to optimize the upcoming versions of Android. Intel is expecting to cash on the open-source Android platform to provide its customers with innovative applications and offer better personal computing experience to the users.
"By optimizing the Android platform for Intel architecture, we bring a powerful new capability to market that will accelerate more industry adoption and choice, and bring exciting new products to market that harness the combined potential of Intel technology and the Android platform," said Intel President and CEO Paul Otellini
Intel’s low power smart phones are supposed to yield a high performance on Android platforms. This gives mobile OEMs a chance to harness the Intel Architecture features and enter the x86 developer environment to drive the adaptation of the Open-Source Platform.
Intel would be starting on this project with 32nm Medfield Atom processors in 2012. It is said to be Intel’s one of the most powerful chip designs. The chip is a single core SoC (System-On-Chip) and Intel will be providing smartphones and tablets manufacturers the designs to Medfield Atom processors. The Medfield Atom products are anticipated by the first half of 2012.
