    Hi,
    can any one tell me , how input bulk capacitor value is designed (which comes after bridge rectifier) for switched mode power supplies?
    any formula?

    In SMPS LC filter is used to filter the current( it is the combination of capacitors and inductors). but for bridge rectifier you can use two high value electrolyte replicators for filtration

    Sometimes, a shunt resistor is also used to make a low pass circuit. It helps to prevent short-circuiting of capacitor which enhances the life of capacitor.

    in general after rectification, C- filter is used to remove the further glitchs will be grounded and it self acts as a shunt capacitor to made ground the unwanted rippled signal it will be given further linear voltage regulator to get regulation properly...
