Infosys Dress Code : All Casual, No Formal

Infosys has announced a new dress code for all their employees: all casuals and no formals! This comes as a big step that breaks Infy's almost three decade long tradition of wearing formal attire at the work. I've heard that the employees were fined about Rs. 200 if they did not follow the dress code. However, Infosys' new CEO, Vishal Sikka is changing all of that!

Infosys employees will now be free to wear clothes of their choice - casual or formal. Sikka's mail to all the employees encouraged the employees to wear their favourite jeans / t-shirt any day at work. He said that the new policy change is application from June 1st. He also ended his email by saying that each of Infosys employee will make the right decision and dress in a way that will make the company proud.

At CrazyEngineers, we've had several discussions on the topic: Are Should there be a dress code in colleges or at workplaces? How important is dress code for work? important at Should the dress code in (work places) companies should be regulated?? If we have any Infosys employees on CE, we'd like to know how's the general opinion about the policy in the company. What do our fellow engineers feel about the decision taken by Infy's CEO?

This is great news for employees. Now a jeans a month 😁.
I think every company should do it.
IMO , forcing employee to wear dress code is negative impression.

I used to feel that not knowing how to tie a tie is an embarrassment. But it's totally not needed in India; you see. 😀 I'm betting it will save a lot of time for many employees.

PS: The only negative side of allowing casual dress code without any policy is that some of the guys and girls will wear clothes sure enough to embarrass others.
