Indoor Blind navigation system Design using image processing in Beagle Board

Project Abstract / Summary : It was a complete portable system which acts as virtual eyes for a blind person And helps in indoor navigation.
In this project we used two cameras which on the concept of stereo vision calculated the distance of obstacles in its path.
We also used face recognition technique to recognize previously trained faces and inform the blind person about the person and his position relative to blind person through ear phones.

We also tried to navigate the blind person through stereo vision and image processing and it was limited to indoor purpose only.

It was a complete portable system. We used Beagle-BoardXM revC as the processor board and two microsoft webcam.

Why did you choose to work on this project topic : Blind people suffer a lot in this world which inspired us to something to help them.
They have to depend on others for their day to day needs. Our project used image segmentation and object recognition for selected objects trained earlier. This project will somehow help them to be independent.
