IGZO Displays Go For Mass Production; Ultra High Resolution Coming Up!

Sharp, one of the world's largest LCD display manufacturer, has #-Link-Snipped-# started mass production of IGZO (Indium Gallium Zinc Oxide) displays. These displays sports ultra high resolution screens, which is the reason analysts have predicted that Apple may be using these displays for its upcoming products. It was also rumoured that the New iPad may also have the IGZO display but for some reason that was not the case.

The highly rumoured Smart TV from Apple, which is expected to be launched later this year, may have the IGZO display. This new technology will double the screen resolution with size remaining the same. These devices would save up to 90 percent power consumption than conventional displays of the same size.

Some references given by Sharp reveals that 7-inch tablet displays would have a resolution of 1280 x 800 (217 ppi), High-Definition notebook screens with 10-inch displays will have 2560 x 1600 (300 ppi) resolution and LCD monitors of 32-inch will be having 3840 x 2160 (140 pixels per inch) resolution.

After some financial losses due to the competitive market, Sharp is now focussing on manufacturing displays for smaller devices like smartphones and tablets. This new technology will definitely be a foot-holder and bring profits for the Japanese manufacturer.
