Ice Cream Sandwich And Nexus Prime Launch Postponed

Samsung and Google have postponed the release of Nexus Prime and Ice Cream Sandwich. Both these products were to be launched on October 11 at Samsung's Unpacked Event. Samsung and Google gave a joint statement confirming the news to Engadget.
Samsung and Google decide to postpone the new product announcement at CTIA Fall. We agree that it is just not the right time to announce a new product. New date and venue will be shortly announced.

Ice Cream Sandwich is the latest version of Android, a mobile operating system by Google. Android 4.0 codenamed Ice Cream Sandwich is the successor to Android 3.0 (Honeycomb) and was set to release on the CTIA event. Whereas, Samsung was coming out with its successor to Nexus S during the same press event.

It's disappointing news for the technology-enthusiasts who were waiting to lay their hands on the newest version of Android, though the product shouldn't take longer than November as Erich Schmidt promised last month in an interview to SalesForce.com. As for Samsung, no official announcement of the new release date has taken place yet.

If sources are to be believed, this decision to delay the product launch by both companies could be out of respect to Steve Jobs' passing on October 5, 2011.
