IBM PureSystems To Simplify Data Center Technology With Converged Hardware

Whenever you start to setup a new data center, one thing you want badly is high speed service to client. It actually takes a lot of effort and time to buy hardware and the most appropriate software. So, after spending a whooping $2 billion in research and a 4 years long acquisition spree, IBM is ready with the answer to the existing problem. IBM’s PureSytems aims to reduce the time and money by packaged and automated software and hardware.

According to a report published in #-Link-Snipped-#, IBM claims that these server are easier to install, automate, update and manage. The product is a result of converging hardware and software together. Clients spend too much time on setting up the systems and sometimes this amount crosses the money spent on hardware. IBM aims that through PureSystems client will be able to use their technical staff more efficiently. They can now concentrate more on business stuff rather wasting time on setting up the servers. Rod Akins, head of IBM’s system and technology group said, “Depending on how large the system and application is, it could take days and weeks to set up, with PureSystems it could take less than a day in some cases.” IBM will unveil the specification of the system later.

IBM is not the only one to come up with this idea. Cisco’s UCS and VCE products and Oracle’s Exadata intends to achieve the same. HP has also announced its own HP converged cloud strategy, with a public cloud. While cloud computing is getting hotter, there has been a tough competition to keep private server systems alive. May be converged hardware technology will help saving this market.
