IBM Brings The Rise Of Social Business In Lotusphere 2012

IBM has been digging the field of social analytics for a while now and seems to be ready with a hoard of social analtytics tools at hand. At Lotusphere 2012, IBM revelead a series of social analytics tools, including the next version of IBM Connections, a social software for business and professional networking. The new tools are supposed to provide an insight into the customers' social world, aggregate unstructured data and help highlight market trends and employee sentiment, all filtered from unstructured data.

IBM has invested a lot in this field with expenses going over $14 billion in the last 5 years on analytics companies. But the company hopes to make it all back in revenue by 2015. The social analytics tools are designed to span across blogs, wikis, e-mail activity, Facebook posts and other social funtionality provided by IBM and flag important data. Kraft, 3M, Prudential and Caterpillar are already customers of IBM's new social enterprise software.

IBM Connections provides one-click collaboration and brings critical data from wikis, blogs, streams, email and calendars to user's attention. A new release of IBM Connections, called 'Connections Next', has been revealed at Lotusphere. Connections Next is supposed to have better analytics, a real-time data monitoring  and provide social networks for employees and partners to connect. IBM will also be launching its new cloud service, SmartCloud, for Social Business. It is a SaaS suite which will be used for co-editing of documents (IBM Docs), managing online meetings and enterprise email, calendaring and messaging. Social networking tools for content management systems are supposed to pave their way too, as highlighted by IBM.
