In a nutshell, such a technology can raise the efficiency of data transmission by reducing the latency (up to 50%) thereby offering doubled data rates. Due to a highly flexible Single RAN equipment setup by Nokia Siemens Network, operators can migrate to the new technology from their existing HSPA networks using simple software upgrade.

Serge Willenegger, Vice President of Product Management at Qualcomm said: his company is working along with Nokia Siemens Networks to uplift the development and deployment of technologies like HSPA+. Further, the HSPA+ Multiflow technology will enhance the HSPA+ technology to drive mobile user experience to a better height thereby expanding global mobile broadband coverage.

The company even claims that this new technology will be 3GPP standardized by mid 2012 and will be made available for commercial use by the second quarter 2013. What next? This technology is going to offer speeds of up to 600Mbps and is definitely going to be the ‘Next Big Thing’.
