HP OMEN Reveals Its New Line of Gaming Laptops, Desktops and Accessories
HP is going all out with its new line of gaming systems named HP OMEN. The line-up includes two new laptops, a desktop, different display and various accessories. Although HP is not generally related to gaming systems neither is it popular for the same, its path to the gaming industry started when HP acquired <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/VoodooPC" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Voodoopc</a>, a luxury personal computer brand that specialized in high performance computing. The VooDoo PC developed the HP Envy (laptop) and HP Firebird (Desktop) as a new range of high performance computers. The OMEN line started when HP first introduced its first 15-inch gaming laptop, also called HP OMEN, in 2014 to challenge the then emerging Razor gaming laptops.
The new HP OMEN features a black theme with new âDragon Redâ highlights and a diamond shaped tribal logo, that resembles the one used by VooDoo PC. Looks like HP is bringing the brand back, if not in name then at least in sprit, and hopes that the people will recognize and respect the system for the performance it was once known. The two new laptops, both named HP OMEN, have the same new look but differ in size and configuration. The smaller model features a 15.6 inch display while its big brother features a 17.3-inch display.
The 15.6 comes with a default 6th gen Intel i3 and the 17.3 with a default 6th gen Intel i5, both can however be upgraded to 6th gen Intel i7. Both the laptops have a FHD (1920x1080) or UHD (3840x2160) display and RAM can be configured from 4GB DDR4 to 16GB DDR4. The graphic card can be configured from GeForce GTX 950M (2GB-8GB) up till GeForce GTX 965M (2GB-8GB). The storage can be a 256GB/512GB SSD or 1TB/2TB HDD. Both the models are set to release in July this year with an expected starting price tag of $899.99 for the smaller model and $979.99 for the larger model.
The HP OMEN Desktop will be released in August, but its configuration and price has not been released yet. However, HP did hint about its desktopâs expensive designing to be able to handle VR gaming, so we can expect an expensive price tag as well. The HP 32 Display, HP OMEN lineâs first monitor, will be a 32-inch Quad HD monitor promising a 5-millisecond response time and a 75Hz refresh rate. It's certified with AMD's FreeSync to reduce stutter. The monitor will also be releasing along with the desktop in august, however its pricing is also not released yet.
Although HP lost its first chance to step into the Gaming System Industry when it dissolved VooDoo PC after its acquisition, but is now coming back with some pretty good systems. How the HP OMEN line performs alongside other major brands like Alienware, Razor, MSI, ASUS ROG and ORIGIN is still to be seen.
