• How to contribute to GitHub

I'm a final year CSE student. I heard making contributions to open source might get my resume noticed when I'm applying for job / internship. Now I am completely new to the open source idea. I have no clue what it even means by contribution to GitHub. Can somebody guide me through? I have an account on GitHub & a repository, but that's all I have got. Can I add my academic / hobby projects to GitHub & if so, will they be considered as "contributions"?

    Thank you for your time.

Do you want to develop something on your own and share it with the world? Or, would you like to contribute to an existing project?

If its the latter then the first step would be to identify a project that you'd really like to work on. Once you do that the instructions #-Link-Snipped-# and The beginner’s guide to contributing to a GitHub project – Rob Allen should help you get started!

    Happy coding!! 😀
