Assuming to the base to be 10!
y = log10x , for x= 1 , y= 1.
for x = 10 , y = 2
for x = 100 , y = 3.
for other values of y viz. for x = 2 , y = 1.3 ,x = 3 y=1.47 so on until x = 10 the value lies below 2.
y = x -1 for x=1 , y = 0
x = 2 y =1 ,
for x = 10 , y = 9
So the two curves intersect only once at the value of x >2 and <3.
Asssuming the logarithm is to the base 10. -
