    Sir / Madam,
    My questions is,

    When the curves y = log10 x and y = x-1 are drawn in the x-y plane, how many times do they intersect for values x ? 1?

    Advance Thanks,
    R.Rengaraj

    Assuming to the base to be 10!

    y = log10x , for x= 1 , y= 1.
    for x = 10 , y = 2
    for x = 100 , y = 3.

    for other values of y viz. for x = 2 , y = 1.3 ,x = 3 y=1.47 so on until x = 10 the value lies below 2.

    y = x -1 for x=1 , y = 0
    x = 2 y =1 ,
    for x = 10 , y = 9

    So the two curves intersect only once at the value of x >2 and <3.

    Asssuming the logarithm is to the base 10.
