HELP: Connect vb 2010 to a database

I'm trying to connect vb2010 to a database. But not been able to do so. Can a database expert guide me on how to go about this?

    What database are u trying to connect to?
    There are different types of drivers u can use:
    The most common are the ODBC drivers which are native in nature.
