Heartbeat: Biometric alternative to your Password?!

Researchers at National Chung Hsing University in Taichung, Taiwan, are experimenting with the use of your heartbeat as a biometric alternative to the password.

The scientists say that a key can be generated from the "unique mathematical features" underlying the specific and unique pattern of each person's heartbeat, which is detectible in the palm.

The ideal application would be the ability to gain access to computers, doors and other locked places by touching your palm to a special reader.

(One advantage over finger- or palm-prints: It doesn't work if crooks cut your hand off.)
