Harvard Soft Robot Employs Explosions In Its Legs To Jump Thirty Times Its Own Height!

Researchers at Harvard have formulated a new three-legged silicone-based soft robot that jumps high in the air (thirty times its own height) owing to the explosion in its legs. The robot has got tubes within it filled with methane and oxygen, which when sparked by electricity explode, thus pushing the robot up in the air. The explosion even maintains the robot's level somewhat, so as the robot comes down it lands on its feet. Had it not been for the tubes hitched inside the robot, it may have registered more of the jumping heights.

The exploding beauties won't be a part of our real world anytime soon, but the future shall definitely entertain their presence. These jumping bots may add worth to search parties and rescue operations, and the researchers are now contemplating on the mid-air steering of the robot to derive the maximum out of them, and to setup their landing positions.
