Gorilla Glass 4 Launched In India - Is Tougher Than The Toughest!
Corning, the company that makes the famous 'Gorilla Glass' has introduced their latest 'Gorilla Glass 4' for Indian markets. Corning claims that it's the latest breakthrough innovation in the electronics material design industry. The Gorilla Glass 4 is at least 2x tougher than its nearest competition and aims to address the #1 issue most of the screens face: breakage when dropped.
Gorilla Glass 4 offers two times the damage resistance over the aluminosilicate glass. In their tests, Corning's team of engineers and scientists discovered that most of the displays break via sharp contact with rough surface. They developed new methods of dropping gadgets face down from one meter so that the covering glass hit a rough surface. The results of the experiment revealed that the Gorilla Glass 4 was 2x tougher and survived 80% of the times. In contrast, the soda-lime glass which is deployed in most of the commercial gadgets breaks ~100% of the time.
The Gorilla Glass 4 is manufactured using a proprietary process, called Fusion Draw which makes the glass durable and clear while keeping its thinness. Corning claims that their glass has been built into over 3 billion devices globally. The company's tied up with five Indian mobile device brands that will offer the new glass in their products starting next year.
