Google To Produce Android Tablets, Too Late?
There were days when Google was just a search engine. Since then, they have evolved a lot. They are the biggest search engine, they have one of the most used mail service, they own the worldâs biggest video site and the worldâs most used Mobile Operating System is under their belt of products. One can question, what next? The answer is simple. They have practically overtaken the internet and now itâs time to arrive in one of the fastest growing field: The Tablet Market.

The rumors for the Google tablet arenât new as in December, last year, Eric Schmidt, Executive Director at Google told Google: Tablet Nexus Tab tra 6 mesi - Notebook Italia that they are planning to produce their own tablets. But this time, Wall Street Journal has #-Link-Snipped-# that the Google tablet is now more than just a plan. The WSJ talked to some people closely related to the matter and according to them, the plan could be in action by the end of the year. Google bought Motorola Mobility recently, so it is quite possible that they are also going to manufacture the tablet. But according to the report, Google is not going to manufacture these tablets, instead the company will have a partnership with other manufacturers like Samsung, Asus etc. These tablets are going to be co-branded by Google same as Nexus One smart phones.
When it comes to tablet market, Apple is undoubtedly the winner. Their latest iPad sold 3 million copies in the first week of its release. Now, even if Google launches its own tablet by the end of the year, I believe its too late to make any harm to iPadâs market. The company which Google can target for now is Amazon. Amazon introduced its tablet Kindle Fire in November 2011 and they have a good share in the tablet market. The issue with Kindle is, they do use Android, but its Amazon Android, an Amazon product. Android tablets also have good share in market but as new competitors like Nook are entering, its hard to hold the position without a brand name.
All in all, its high time that Google should try itself in tablet market. They already have whatâs needed to be a success i.e. a brand name. Android has been extremely successful with smartphones but its success in tablet market is limited, thanks to revolutionary iPad. Other features that may attract users are Ice Cream Sandwich (Android 4.0), Google Play (Android market) and the integration of different Google platforms. It is also rumored that Google will be releasing its next Android version Jelly Bean in middle of this year.
