Google Talk (GTalk) Down. Outage Affects Thousands Of Users

It looks like Google Talk is down and it's affecting majority of users. We quickly checked our Google and Google Apps accounts and discovered that the Talk service is unable to connect. Google has officially acknowledged the issue and confirmed that they are investigating the issue. Google says that users are able to access the Google Talk service, but are noticing error messages and abnormal behavior.

We're bit surprised to see the popular 'Talk' service going down. Google's known for their expertise on running and managing their services efficiently on their massive data centers. Google Talk fanatics are buzzing their Twitter and Facebook feeds with complaints. Google says that further estimate will be provided in the next few minutes but it might take some time to restore the service. Update: 5:31 PM (IST): Google Says -We are continuing to investigate this issue. We will provide an update by 7/26/12 6:20 PM detailing when we expect to resolve the problem.

Update: 6:03 PM (IST): Looks like it's being restored. We already see our contacts online in Google Talk now. We're checking this from India.

Update: 6:15 PM (IST): The service was restored briefly, but it's gone down again. We've been hearing the reports of chat histories being destroyed. We ask our readers to tell us if their chat histories are intact.

Update: 6:20 PM (IST): Google says, "Our team is continuing to investigate this issue. We will provide an update by 7/26/12 7:20 PM with more information about this problem. Thank you for your patience."

Update 6:24 PM (IST): It looks like the service has been restored in Israel. We see few of our friends from Israel online on Gtalk.

Update: 7:20 PM (IST): Looks like Google's continuing to investigate the issue. Is there something 'very' serious? Google just posted an update saying "We are continuing to investigate this issue. We will provide an update by 7/26/12 8:20 PM detailing when we expect to resolve the problem."
