Google Search Spins A Semantic Web; Christens Knowledge Graph

How would you like your favorite search engine to become all the more awesome? Yes, please! Knowledge Graph, Google's new semantic search, is already spreading across all Google Search tools, and going by Google's reach, indeed taking over the world.

Starting today, a major part of Google Search will start working towards giving you search results that are way more than just parsed strings. Try your hand at typing a random word of choice and a new window on the right side will appear along with a bunch full of entities to choose from, allowing you to focus your search in the specific scope.

This is a paradigm shift in the field of search, to say the least. To go from simple keyword recognition to identification of entities, nodes and relationships is huge. The search is smarter, associating attributes with a search term allows a faster route of reaching the result one is actually searching for. Clearly, a search carried out within a limited scope has a better chance of yielding the desired results.

Google's search results will also feature summaries for the search terms, gathered from Google's knowledge databases including Freebase, Wikipedia, Google Local, Google Maps and Google Shopping. Google's aim here is to provide users with the most relevant and interesting information related to a particular subject. The Knowledge Graph, also allows for a deeper access of results as well as related topics. As an example here, searching for a local amusement park, would give you more insight into an interesting rollercoaster as one of the relevant results that relates to the park.

Though, as refined it is, Google have not announced anything related to personalization of results yet. But as of now, this is enough to keep us awed.
