Google Search Faster In A Quantum Network

Giuseppe Paparo and Miguel Martín-Delgado at The Complutense University in Madrid have devised a quantum algorithm to make Google Search faster. Currently, Google uses the Pagerank algorithm to organize its results, which ranks each page individually, based on the web page's popularity as well the number of sites linking to that page. Now this Madrid Duo has taken the search algorithm a level up and introduced a quantum algorithm deriving from the "classical" version. They call this method “quantization” of the PageRank protocol to list web pages according to their importance.

The quantum version is similar in features to the classical version, but it has a major advantage over it, which is speed. Reports have noted that quantum versions of the algorithm churn out rapid results, faster than the classical algorithm. The quantum algorithm used a tree search to outperform the classical algorithm in ranking a root page. Similar results were achieved from both when using a directed graph while the quantum algorithm beat the classical algorithm when ranking the highest ranking page.

This quantum algorithm works with quantum bits, or qubits, while sending or receiving information. While the possibility of such a quantum network is still under investigation, Technologists who hold a knowledge of quantum computing firmly believe that the classical web will be eventually replaced by a network of quantum nodes.
